Guest Post: Fashionably Gorgeous and Ready for Adventure!

In a break from the norm, I have a guest post to share with you today from the lovely Jackie Clark. She works for Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance, a leading web resource for mesothelioma cancer. The title is for her article, definitely not my outfit ;)

First up, here's what I wore for a lazy Saturday. Quick trip to the store and then lounging around in the garden enjoying the weather.

Top: Cotton On striped round neck top
Shorts: Jeanswest
Bracelets: the usual
Shoes: Asos 'flame' Leather Flat Sandals with Multi Straps (new purchase)
Wallet: Miu Miu Matelasse Lux Continental Zip-around Wallet in Indaco from Reebonz

And below is the amazing guest post. I think it's a fantastic read. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer in some way, and I hope that if you know anyone still fighting the battle you can share Jackie's article or blog with them.

In Jackie's own words (which I hope she does not mind me sharing):
Sadly, many women are hearing those devastating words 'you have cancer.' Despite a cancer diagnosis, women can still feel beautiful in their own skin. Fashion is a wonderful way to feel strong and confident. I would like to share with your audience the reality of cancer and how women can say 'YES I have cancer', but I am no less beautiful than I was before my diagnosis.

Thank you to Jackie for letting me share her article here. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Fashionably Gorgeous and Ready for Adventure!

There is no doubt that women undergo a lot of challenges in their life. If you are someone who has recently undergone a long round of doctor visits or you are tired of talking of nothing except for your mesothelioma prognosis, the truth is that you need to find something that does not have to do with cancer that you wish to celebrate! For example, are you someone who craves high fashion and who loves the idea of making an entrance whenever you come in? If so, consider some of these tips for getting your fashionable life restarted.

In the first place, start wearing the colors that you love again. Even if you have been told that the colors you love are not suitable for you, chances are that you can wear them if you just have a little confidence. Red represents victory, blue represents the ocean and green is a wonderful color for rebirth and re-growth. Think about the colors that make you smile whenever you see them, and think about how you feel when you wear them. Take power and energy from the colors that you love.

Also take some time and think about what pieces of clothing make you feel the way that you want to feel. Do you have a power suit that makes you feel like a winner in the boardroom? Is there a dress that is instrumental to helping you feel sexy and desirable? We take our cues from the things around. Some people have lucky charms, but other people will change their environment to create a look and a feeling that they love. Look through your closet and find out which pieces of clothing are going to make you thrilled about the kind of person that you are.

A small amount of planning can go a long way. Even if you don’t have a lot of energy, you are going to discover that this is a perfect time for you to get invested in your appearance. Start small. For example, if you know that you are going to need to go out tomorrow, put together your outfit the night before. Add a few small touches that are going to create the perfect kind of look for you, whether you want to be playful, imposing or charming

Where does your closet stand, and how can you make sure that you are wearing the clothes that suit you to your toes? If you do this then you can outshine cancer and show off your true beauty.

I hope you enjoyed the guest post, and have a lovely Saturday.
